Prof. Marinêz Isaac Marques, Federal University of Mato Grosso, Brazil
Marinêz Isaac Marques is a biologist with a PhD in Biological Sciences, specialized in Entomology at the Federal University of Paraná, Curitiba, Paraná State. Since 1999, she has been dedicated to studying soil and canopy arthropods in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso. A retired professor from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), Marinêz continues to supervise the Graduate Program in Zoology at UFMT. In addition, she serves as Research Coordinator at the National Institute for Pantanal Research (INPP), an institution linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) of the Federal Government. Currently, she is involved in the project “Acoustic Monitoring of Biodiversity in the Pantanal” (CNPq/UFMT) as well as the project “Beyond the Look: The Use of UAVs and Bioacoustics in Behavioral Studies of the Pantanal Caiman yacare.”
Prof. Karl-L. Schuchmann, Federal University of Mato Grosso, Brazil
Prof. Karl-L. Schuchmann is an ornithologist, biogeographer, and tropical ecologist specializing in Neotropical birds. He is retired from the Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig and the University of Bonn, Germany. His recent research interests focus on applied sciences related to rapid biodiversity assessment studies, particularly automated acoustic monitoring. Currently, he is engaged in a long-term study on automated acoustic species detection in the Pantanal wetlands of Brazil (www.cobra.ic.ufmt.br) as a Research Associate of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), Department of Zoology, where he also supervises students in the Graduate Program.
