How to Get There

How to Get There

Below you can find some information on how to reach the conference venue depending on the mode of transportation.

By plane:

There are several viable airports to reach the destination with a plane. Ljubljana Airport (SI) is the one closest to the venue, located approximately 62 km from hotel Špik (one hour drive). Other viable options for international flights are as follows.

Austria: Klagenfurt Airport 69 km, Salzburg Airport 216 km, Vienna Airport 368 km

Italy: Trieste Airport 155 km, Venice Airport - Treviso 228 km, Venice Airport - Marco Polo 233 km

Croatia: Zagreb Airport 232 km

Germany: Munchen Airport 368 km

From an airport it is possible to take a GoOpti Shuttle (must be booked in advance) to reach the venue.

In case of Ljubljana Airport another option is Markun Shuttle (must be booked in advance). The price of a one-way shuttle from Ljubljana Airport to the venue is approximately 65-70 € (if a reservation is done by a single person for a group of up to 7 people, then the cost is distributed among the travelers).

From Ljubljana Airport you can also take a bus, shuttle, or taxi to one of the nearby cities:

  • Kranj - bus provider: Arriva from "Brnik/Ljubljana airport" to "Kranj AP",
  • Ljubljana - bus providers: "Javno podjetje Ljubljanski potniški promet" and "Arriva", see the web page of Ljubljana Bus Station, from "Brnik/Ljubljana airport" to "Ljubljana bus station" (the connections by "Arriva" are quicker, however, they start in Bled and the buses may not stop at the airport if they are full; on the other hand, the slower buses by "Javno podjetje Ljubljanski potniški promet" start directly at the airport),

and from there take a bus to Gozd Martuljek (see the bus option below) or a train to Jesenice (see the train option below). Note that Kranj is closer to the airport and the conference venue than Ljubljana; however, a bus ticket does not guarantee you a seat on the bus, so boarding the bus in Ljubljana rather than in Kranj has its advantage. (The bus lines from Kranj to Gozd Martuljek start in Ljubljana.)

If you use any of the other flight options instead of Ljubljana Airport, you also have the option to take a Flixbus bus from the city to Ljubljana Bus Station (see bus option below).

By bus:

Flixbus is a good option for international travels throughout Europe as it offers transportation to and from a large number of European cities. Flixbus also connects Ljubljana with all the cities with airports mentioned above. Tickets for Flixbus must be booked in advance and seats on the bus are guaranteed.

From Ljubljana or Kranj you can take a bus which stops at the station Gozd Martuljek Spodnje Rute (16 minutes walk along the main road) or the station Gozd Martuljek Zgornje Rute (10 minutes walk, however the path may be muddy). Tickets can be bought on-site, however it is advised to book them in advance.

By train:

The closest train station to the venue is the train station Jesenice. You can reach it from Ljubljana/Kranj or from Austria (International or EuroCity trains). From Ljubljana to Jesenice trains travel often throughout the day so you will have plenty of opportunities to catch a train. From Austria trains do not travel as often so you have to be extra cautious about their times. From Jesenice you can take a bus or a taxi to reach the venue. You can find more information at the Slovenian Railways website. At the moment the English version of the website is being updated and is shown only in a simpler reduced form.

By car:

Participants arriving by car are encouraged at their convenience to discuss with other participants the option of picking them up at airports, bus stations or train stations.
