SUMMER SCHOOL ON CHINESE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

The Confucius Classroom Koper at the University of Primorska (KUK UP) offers an immersion course into Chinese language and culture for young participants between 8 and 16 years of age.
You will be offered the chance to immerse into the Chinese culture by learning about the essential principles of the Chinese language and the core values of its culture. All the courses will be taught in a team teaching mode, led jointly by a Slovene sinologist and a Chinese teacher.
The work will be tailored so as to cater to the needs of groups of different age and abilities. Students with preliminary knowledge of Chinese language are also invited and will be placed in an advanced group.
The Chinese teachers will ensure that students gain a most authentic understanding of the Chinese culture, leading presentations and workshops on ancient and modern Chinese customs, lifestyles and values.
The sinologists and staff members of the Confucius classroom in Koper, University of Primorska, will ensure that students will be making good progress and feel comfortable.
The fee covers the following services:
- 14 hours of Chinese language course, which will include basic or advanced level of spoken and written Chinese language.
- 8 hours of presentations about Chinese culture with lectures on several topics: the clay soldiers, the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven, the Gobi Desert and Takla Makan, Chinese painting and calligraphy, mythological and real animals (panda, dragon, monkey).
- 8 hours of workshops on Chinese culture (a practical demonstration of traditional arts and crafts: masks, calligraphy, painting, noodles, origami, and knots).
- In your leisure time, you can also learn about the Chinese culture by watching some Chinese cartoons and films.
